What genre does your chosen song fall into?
My chosen song, "Therapy" by Corrine Vielle falls into the R&B genre as the song's rhythm and beat is very similar to other R&B songs. For example, 'There goes my Baby' by Usher starts off with a slow beat and slowly the beat gets faster and he starts to sings faster, similarly, in my song: the song starts with a very slow beat and then it gets faster and the artist starts to sing faster as well. Also, in my chosen song there are a lot of rhyming couplets which gives rhythm to the song. Such as: 'you’re my everything everything/You're my remedy my therapy. Likewise in 'There goes my Baby' by Usher there is: "loving everything you do/oo girl look at you'

Usher - "There Goes My Baby"
Introduction
My chosen music video is by Usher and is called “There goes my baby”. The video is part of the album Raymond v. Raymond and was released on 15th June 2010.
The video is directed by Anthony Mandler and has a time length of 4 minutes and 44 seconds.
The song is about Usher’s love for his girlfriend. During the song he talks about how pretty she is and how much he loves her.
He expresses his feelings for her through the lyrics continuously and compliments her beauty throughout the entire song.
Type of Video
The music video can be seen as a Performance video, as the artist himself sings in front of the camera but doesn’t play any instruments.
At the same time it can also be perceived as a narrative video as the lyrics are visually shown.
Throughout the video we see some narrative and some performance which completes the video as a Narrative/Performance video.
Furthermore, it can be argued that there is an obvious connection between the lyrics and the video, as the video is about both of them being in love.
As we do not see the lyrics being visualised on camera it is hard to say that there may be an obvious link to the lyrics and the video.
Target Audience
I believe this video is targeted at teenagers and adults, 16 and over.
It could be argued that it is specifically targets at females as this is quite a sexual and romantic song.
However, arguably it can also be targeted at males as both females and males like ‘RnB’ as their favourite music genre.
The Artist and The Video
Throughout the video, the camera is focused on the artist, it is only when he is talking about his girl, the camera jump cuts to her for 3-4 seconds and then jumps back to the artist.
A lot of the screen time is given to the artist because the song is performed as a Performance/Narrative videos where the audience will expect to see their artist
There is a soft and romantic atmosphere created in the video which puts the audience in a mood that attracts them to watch the video.
As the artist sings quite softly, the action taking place on the screen is also slowly done.

Amy Dalley - “Men Don’t Change”
Introduction
My chosen video is by Amy Dalley and is called “Men don’t change”.
The video is part of the album ‘Its Time’ and was released on 19th January 2009.
The video is directed by Michael Salomon and has a time length of 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
The song is about the singer and her friends who are all in relationships and how all men are the same, cheaters and liars. Yet, women always give them a second chance.
Type Of Video
The music video is a Performance/Narrative video as the artist herself is singing the song and plays the guitar but at the same time she is telling a story of her friend ‘Lisa’ who is in a relationship with a man who’s a liar and cheater.
The video plays on the idea of how men always get away with things that take place in relationships but also has elements of comedy in it.
Also, there is an obvious connection between the lyrics and the video as whatever she is singing is shown on screen.
Target Audience
I think that this video is most probably targeted at men and women who are in a relationship or have been in relationships as the whole song is based on the idea that men are liars and cheaters, yet, women cannot resist them because they like men.
The video is realistic but is shown through comedy which shows the irony of the relationships that men and women have.
The Artist and The Video
Most of the time the camera is focusing on the artist as she is the narrator of this narrative video and she is performing it too.
However, at the same time there are a lot of jump cuts back and fourth to the artist and then to the other characters as she is telling a story and the lyrics are visually shown on screen.
The atmosphere that this creates is quite realistic as the artist is playing on a real dilemma.
However, at the same time there are elements of comedy used which sets quite a cool mood and makes the video more enjoyable to watch.
